Formal Properties of Distributed Database Networks (Presentation)

Abstract

A configuration consisting of sensors and communication nodes that support user database functions can be modeled as a network of distributed databases. In this paper we investigate certain properties of such networks, and examine the ways in which two or more database networks can be linked into a single network so as preserve or achieve desirable properties. In particular, we examine how merging can be done so as to minimize the diameter and maximize the resiliency of the resulting network, doing so at minimal cost.
